Make a version of the song “West Coast” (by Coconut Records) in the style of the Star Wars cantina band, complete with singing aliens.
A big Thank You to Chris Hardwick and everyone at Nerdist, Jason Schwarzman (he is Coconut Records), Billy Dee Williams for stopping by Phirmilab (WHAAAAT?!), Dannah for being the voice of the Tonnika Sisters, Theresa Patten-Köckert for being the female half of the choir with me (at the end of the song), and Ben Burtt for being a genius.
(Ben Burtt is the sound designer for Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Wall-E… everything with great sound and amazing voices. I’ve learned a lot about him and his work in the last few months, and he is now one of my heros. Check out his book “The Sounds of Star Wars” — it’s incredible!)
PS. I got to shoot Greedo! For no good reason!
In keeping with our love for songs that are listenable but pretty much impossible to sing along with, Hard ‘n Phirm presents: “Gersberms (Yer Gervin Mah)” featuring Hayley Williams (from Paramore), Melissa Rauch (from Big Bang Theory), and an excitable little foreign dude.

I swear it’s not just parents talking about how adorable their kids’ poops are. It’s geeky parents sharing ideas on having fun with geeky kids (and… alright… occasionally mentioning their geeky poops).
UPDATE: Or watch it here…

If you missed it, “Weird Al” Yankovic has a show over on the Nerdist YouTube channel called Face to Face. In this episode, Al interviews William H. Macy. I don’t want to spoil the surprise, but… just watch it, and act surprised at around minute 8:40!
After watching this one, do what I’d do and WATCH THEM ALL!
Well, looky here! Or even better, listeny here! ‘Cause it’s a new song!
It’s a tribute parody about the geek-themed variety show “w00tstock“, which is itself a geek-themed tribute to the Woodstock festival, created by Paul and Storm, Adam Savage, and Wil Wheaton. (I’m very lucky to have been invited to perform in several of them. They really are little love-fests, like Woodstock, minus the mud and with more “On” buttons.)
He was kind enough to post a couple of his favorites:
(Note: the last one was made by the very talented Shawn Sabourin, daughter of master songwriter and very funny dude Paul Sabourin (who is one half of my comedy music heroes, Paul and Storm (who have written songs about “Star Wars” (a film that features Harrison Ford (who was in “Working Girl” with Oliver Platt (who was in “Loverboy” with Kevin Bacon))))).)
A few weeks ago, I was lucky enough to have 100 billion of my favorite comedians come through Phirmilab to record some songs for the 2010 Comedy Death Ray Christmas Album. This was the biggee. Hope you like it!
